Community Involvement
Involvement in the community is both an interest and a value we hold. We seek daily to emphasize the importance of mental health in our work with individuals and families and desire to engage with health professionals and others outside of the practice to be part of the growing commitment to mental heath in our community.
As part of this commitment, we will be offering talks and discussion groups focused on specific mental health topics at Prather & Stowers as well as seminars to be held at schools and other community meeting places. Topics will include helping teens understand and manage anxiety, learning the power of mindfulness, and strengthening the father-son relationship.
Upcoming Events
A two-part seminar led by Dr. Jeff Prather and educator Tyler Stowers—designed for teens and their parents to help them better understand stress and anxiety and learn simple and effective strategies to help navigate daily life.
In a time when anxiety and depression are prevalent, the All-Terrain Seminar has been created to highlight the joy of being present and help youth replace feelings of being overwhelmed with the ability to experience gratitude and find joy!
This art therapy group provides a creative space for participants to explore identity, strengths, relationships, and personal growth through guided art experiences. Using a variety of expressive mediums—including collage, mixed media, and reflective art exercises—participants will engage in creative exploration and discussion to deepen self-understanding, build confidence, and strengthen connection with themselves and others in a supportive group environment.
This creative group helps teens learn practical tools for managing anxiety while engaging in hands-on craft activities such as embroidery, crochet, beading, and zentangles. Each session introduces a new creative skill alongside discussions about stress, emotions, and coping strategies, allowing participants to practice mindfulness and regulation through the rhythm of making. The group provides a relaxed, supportive space where teens can build confidence, develop healthy coping tools, and connect with others while creating.
Opportunities for Community Engagement
At Prather & Stowers, we value opportunities to engage with our community in creative and meaningful ways. In addition to our clinical work, we enjoy offering classroom talks, workshops, and educational presentations on topics related to emotional health, resilience, and well-being. These conversations can take many forms—from fun writing projects with students to topic-based talks or groups in workplaces and community settings—creating space to reflect, learn, and support well-being beyond the therapy room.
If you are interested in partnering with us or inviting us to speak at your school, workplace, or community event, we would welcome the opportunity to connect. Please reach out to learn more about available topics and scheduling.
